How we check

Every fact page here carries a "Checked on" date, and the date means something: the day the page's claims were read back against their sources.

Paper-cut collage of a hand holding a phone under a magnifying glass, with a green tick on the screen, a signal arc and a SIM card.

What we check, and where

  • Networks and coverage: the regulator (ICASA) and the networks’ own announcements. When Vodacom says it launched 5G on 4 May 2020, we link Vodacom, not a blog post about Vodacom.
  • RICA and registration: the Act itself and the Department of Justice’s statements.
  • Airports: the operator’s own pages (Airports Company South Africa) and the stores’ own listings.
  • Plans, prices and delivery: the store’s live page, compared plan by plan against this site in two languages before every release.

What we do not claim

  • Hotspot and 5G on a plan only when the store confirms them. Where the store is silent, we are silent: the plans’ hotspot support is not confirmed, so no page promises it.
  • No invented reviews or ratings, no popularity claims, no rankings. Where a question asks us to rank, the answer gives the criteria to check.
  • We name no company behind the eSIM, anywhere.

Corrections

If a page is wrong, write to contact@localsimsouthafrica.com with the page address and the source that beats ours. Corrections land with the next release; the “Checked on” date moves when the facts are re-read. Our Editorial policy says who writes the pages.
